3. Watch out or Search the Web of the cheapest fares..... cebupacific, airphils, Philippine Airlines and EvenSuperferry. These companies has book and buy promos that are being sold ahead of time and at certaindate of departures. Or other International airlines like Air asia, Tiger airways to name a few that caters toZERO FARES PROMOS.3. Ask your nearest travel agents for cheap land arrangements. Meaning Hotel, and Tour destinations.

4. Always use credit cards and bring a little amount of Cash.....for those who are shopaholic....shop forsome little souvenirs not the whole city....or else.....YOU BALLOONED for EXCESS BAGGAGE FEES.....

5. Bring Medicines, water, biscuits, or some food stuffs you might need along the trip

6. TRAVEL LIGHT.....just do backpacks...never never bring trolley bagss if you plan out to go to BORACAY, HONDA BAY, ELNIDO or GUMASA......our beaches are well known for its white sands.....

7. ALWAYS SAFETY FIRST.....dont be carried away on what you have seen, appreciate the sceneries, TAKEPICTURES ARE THE BEST THING TO BRING HOME and FUN MEMORIES......

OUR FIRST TRAVEL...

When we were kids back in the earlyn 70's and80's....WHEW...that was 3 decades ago...hahahaha... My Elder sisters, Sky was 8 yrs old, Malou was 7, I was 6 and Doll was 4. That was the time that we were only 4 children in the family. I remember we always look forward for the summer days, of course, it's SUMMER VACATION....what we were looking forward before was the boatride from Gen Santos City to Iloilo. Our late Lola would bring us up to ILOILO which was my late father's home province. He was born in Jaro, Iloilo City, but practically grew up in a little town Called JANIUAY, were almost everybody is a relative. My mom came from the same town too! The Boatride was kinda fun, it takes 3 days from Gensan to Iloilo. And as far I can remember, We would only sleep to what we were told TERAS...or bunk bed. I couldnt even remember the ship's name but that was run before by LEGASPI SHIPPING LINES. Probably, there were no cabins, suite rooms, business class or tourists class accommodation before. It was a cargo ship with of course a few allocations for passengers. We would roam around ship, trying to conquer every side of it. Viewing the Horizon as if we were young Magellans and Columbos' trying to discover an island. My late lola, would prepare foods good for 3 days travel for there was no food for sale board. We would not miss out the hardboiled eggs, the undying CHICKEN ADOBO, and rice. Whew.....we were like having fun on board. When docked Iloilo, our uncle would pick us up at the pier. Fascinated by the wonder of science and the floating metal, whew...that was really awesome experience.
In the 70's, the TRAIN was still working as the mode of transportation in Panay Island. Where it would shuttle from Iloilo Province down to Capiz Province, where in cargo transport were sugarcane were the major agricultural product. That was, our first train ride. Meeting up relatives from both parents were fun. That was the first time that I met my cousins from both parents. Our parents comes from a clanish family. They were closely knit family. I remember our ancestral home from my father side, all of my grand aunts, grand uncle, stayed in one roof. Our 2 spinster aunts were the one taking care of them. All of my Lolas and lolos were octogenerians. I remember, they would still play card games called "PANGUENGGE" it's spanish card game using a tarot card. I dont know how to play it but, I would see them play and the bet would be 10 cents or pesetas for 2ocents. Wow...hehehehehe...if you're a retiree and u got nothing to do, this must be a past time. and of course I couldn't forget the black coffee concocted by my spinster aunt for them. and lastly, they would enjoy puffing a pure roled tabaccos.
As a child, You wouldnt want to miss the days that you would bond with your grand parents. Starting off from going to the public market, during those times where SUPERMALLS were not yet around, the public market was just within our reach to provide us with what we need, from tsinelas, school bags, shirts, shoes, etc. Our Vacation would always be a memorable one coming home with what we needed for school were already provided by our Lolos and Lolas. We were lucky enough that my late father was an only child. That's why so, that we were provided by our lola the needs that we always wanted.
As summer were about to end, and school were about to start. It's now time to say good bye to cousins, and of course, to our grand uncles, grand aunts, aunts, uncles from both sides of our family. We took PHILIPPINE AIRLINES from ILOILO to DAVAO where my father will pick us up. Wow, that was our first plane ride. I remember, I would always ask the stewardess to give me water after hotmeals were served. We were laughing out because my younger sister was crying, telling my lola that she would rather take the car than flying the plane. It dumbs her ear of the plane engine for it was so loud. My two other sisters would roam around the plane, back and forth back and forth. What would you do in a 2 hour plane ride from ILOILO to DAVAO with a twin engine turbo props plane? I wonder how our LOLA were able to manage us four? As we landed Davao, our parents were right there waiting for us. Missing us so much. 2 Months to be away from them was so long to really miss us. We were lucky enough to be such in the younger age to experience, our FIRST TRAVEL EXPERIENCE.....
